October Recap

Thanks to everyone who joined us this month for the Gothic Funk Salon at Queens’ Provisions, and the Gothic Funk Hangout at Glenwood Cemetery’s Gothic Garden Party. Both events featured lively conversation about art, culture, Flint, and fun, and it’s nice to feel that rush of creative solidarity as we ready ourselves for the dark, cold months ahead.

Don’t forget that the Paramanu Pentaquark arts journal is currently open for submissions and that the Teen Writers Workshop meets every other Tuesday during the school year. We’ll be back in November with a Gothic Funk Hangout at the Flint Institute of Arts, and December with a new Salon. Join our mailing list to get all of the most up-to-date information!

At the October Gothic Funk Salon, we had books for purchase by Roxanne Rhoads.
At the salon, we also had books by featured guest Paul Counelis.
The crowd gathered in anticipation.
Gothic Funk Press emcee Roy Richards introduced guests.
Roxanne Rhoads warmed up our crowds with a reading from her newest book, Haunted Hotels of Michigan.
Paul shared an excerpt of a new work-in-progress.
Roy interviewed Paul, aka “Uncle Salem,” about all things Halloween!
The next day, Gothic Funkers got to visit the Gothic Garden Party at Glenwood Cemetery in Flint for cider, donuts, and artists selling their wares, all in the confines of this spectacular Victorian cemetery and arboretum.
The leaves were in peak color!
