2023 TEEN WRITERS INTENSIVE

TUES. JULY 11th – FRI. JULY 14th, 2-4 PM
1026 E. KEARSLEY ST.
THE FRIENDS ROOM (2ND FLOOR)
FLINT, MICHIGAN

What sort of stories do you like?

Some readers like horror; stories of monsters and destructive forces unleashed upon unsuspecting heroes… other readers prefer fantasy stories in which the world is shaped by the powers of magic! Still other readers enjoy science-fiction, featuring technology and science that we can scarcely imagine. Then again, nothing engages the imagination quite like a thrilling mystery: can you discover all the clues?

This year the Writers Intensive is going to mix it up a little: each student will have a chance to imagine, outline, and write their own short story: horror, fantasy, science-fiction, or mystery, based on writing prompts that all stories will share in common. No experience needed: just bring your imagination and ideas and be ready to write!

The Writers Intensive offers young writers aged 11-17 a safe and welcoming space in which to share their love of reading, practice writing, critique each other’s work, and learn about literature and publishing. It is a project of the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library and Gothic Funk Press.
