FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Paramanu Pentaquark, an online publication of the Gothic Funk Press, will publish its seventh issue on October 28, 2023. The issue is free and will be available to anyone with an internet connection at http://gothicfunkpress.com.

The launch will be celebrated in partnership with the trailblazing Buckham Gallery at 2 pm, October 28, 121 W. 2nd St., Flint, MI 48502. Artists, writers, and musicians featured in The Paramanu Pentaquark will have the opportunity to share their work and participate in a question-and-answer session with guests. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

The seventh issue of The Paramanu Pentaquark features poetry, personal and critical essays, illustrations, and performances of original compositions created in a “Gothic Funk” style: experimental work featuring degrees of romanticism, darkness, depth, and swagger. The journal is determinedly committed to international perspectives, and the new issue includes artists from Argentina, Canada, and Norway, as well as from Flint, Michigan, and other locations across the United States. Featured artists include Michalis Andronikou, Glen Armstrong, Marin Beardslee, Elisabeth Blair, Aly Condon, Dario Duarte, Matt Gill, David Henderson, Jakob Glans, Ben Larned, and Kendra Preston Leonard.

The Gothic Funk Press is an independent publisher based in Flint, Michigan. In addition to the publication of new work, the Press has partnered with the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library to bring free writing workshops to the community, as well as the Flint Festival of Writers and now Buckham Gallery. The Press has published works of Gothic Funk fiction and poetry and anthologies in support of Flint and Genesee County writers. The Press hosts a popular online salon series that brings writers from around the world together, and has also coordinated community engagement events such as the Flint Order of Orpheus and the Flint Area Scavenger Hunt.
